The Archives Cloud provides a web application by xDams, a multimedia and document environment, specialized in the analytic description and management of various types of materials and information in the Cultural Heritage domain. xDams allows for the back end management and access of remote archives using an XML database format and a strongly oriented cloud approach.
xDams adopts the EAD XML Schema (Encoded Archival Description), and EAC-CPF XML Schema to encode the description of the archival resources and authority records respectively. Other data structures can be implemented, depending on the material specificities and the user needs.
The web application provides a unified web access (Intranet and Internet) for inventory tasks and allows the integrated management of digital attachments (typically image files), inventory records, as well as audio/video files (streaming format). Users can insert, manage, update and delete any tree edge.
